Hair-Care OEM Landed Cost: Quote the Carton Before Choosing the Bottle
Compare hair-care packs by filled carton dimensions, saleable units and itemized landed-cost assumptions before accepting a lower unit price.

Choose the bottle only after comparing complete filled cartons. Two quotes with similar unit prices can have different freight exposure, packing labor and saleable units because the dimensions, closure protection and carton configuration differ.
Treat packaging displays as sourcing leads
COSMEX’s November 3–5 program identifies packaging and manufacturing among its sourcing categories. A show sample can help shortlist a bottle, but it cannot establish its packing configuration or shipping cost. Request data for the actual filled item before comparing options.
Request comparable carton records
Ask for fill size, pack material, closure, units per carton, outside dimensions and gross weight. Confirm whether dividers or upright packing are required and whether the proposed carton is tested for the route. Compare identical order quantities and delivery terms. If the buyer plans a mixed shipment, record case quantities by SKU.
Use cost per saleable unit
Add manufacturing, packaging, documented freight and buyer-confirmed destination costs, then divide by the expected saleable units. As an illustration, a total of 1,050 for 500 good units is 2.10 per unit; if only 480 are saleable it becomes 2.19. These are hypothetical figures, not a JunChun quote. Include a separate loss scenario rather than assuming damage.
Ask for the cost of change
A qualified mature formula and stock bottle may start from 100 units; new bottles, printed components or boxes are reviewed from 500 with actual process minimums confirmed. Ask the supplier to distinguish the order quantity from any larger packaging commitment. Confirm the shipping document and freight scope on the actual quotation.
