A bond-care shampoo should combine a credible repair-system story with dependable cleansing, foam, rinse and packaging performance. It is suitable for salon retail, color-care ranges and professional repair systems for bleached or chemically processed hair.
Salon and Color-Care Positioning
Define whether the shampoo is for daily maintenance, post-color aftercare or the first step of a complete bond-repair routine. The formula cannot maximize deep cleansing, ultra-mildness, heavy conditioning and high foam at the same time. A clear priority helps the supplier set the surfactant and conditioning balance.
Cleansing System Direction
Sulfate-free and conventional surfactant routes can be evaluated according to market preference, cost and performance. “Sulfate-free” does not automatically guarantee mildness or color protection; the complete finished formula and use conditions matter. Bond-care ingredients and conditioning polymers should be selected within a finished-product testing plan.
Viscosity and Foam Targets
Set an acceptable viscosity range at a defined temperature. Fragrance, salt, extracts and actives can alter thickness. Test foam speed, bubble character, spread and rinse under realistic water hardness. Compare one-wash and two-wash salon protocols and monitor the formula after heat-cool and transport simulation.
Color-Care and Combing Tests
Use bleached, highlighted and colored swatches to evaluate wet friction, combing, dry feel and visible color change after repeated washing. Ingredient inclusion alone does not prove internal bond repair or breakage reduction. Claims should match the evidence available for the approved finished formula.
Packaging Options
Common formats include 250ml to 300ml retail bottles and 500ml or 1000ml salon backbar bottles. Test the exact pump, flip-top or disc-top closure. High viscosity can create slow pump return, while low viscosity may leak through an unsuitable closure. Confirm label adhesion in wet-room conditions.
