Heat-Care Leave-In OEM: Pump Lotion or Fine-Mist Spray?
Compare pump lotion and fine-mist spray for a heat-care leave-in OEM project. Specify the hair profile, application, pack and evidence needed for claims.

JunChun Beauty Editorial Team · 14 October 2026
Choose a pump lotion when the proposed leave-in needs hand application and a more substantial conditioning feel. Choose a fine-mist spray when controlled spray application better fits the brief. Heat or humidity protection is a separate performance claim requiring evidence for the finished formula; it is not established by the dispenser or the concept label.
The current signal is formulation activity
BASF’s 8 October SEPAWA announcement sets out a personal-care innovation programme for 14–16 October in Berlin. It is a current supplier-development signal, not proof that one finished leave-in format sells better. Official announcement.
Our buying recommendation is to turn product ideas into a specific styling occasion. A salon brand serving regular blow-dry customers may have a different brief from a curl retailer selling a between-wash refresh product.
Pump lotion: controlled hand application
A lotion concept can make sense when the customer expects to spread product through the hands and distribute it over selected lengths. Define the desired conditioning feel and finish, then select a compatible pump. A pump can support dose control, but the exact output depends on the chosen component and formula.
The existing image proposes a 200 ml pump pack. It is not a spray bottle. The heat-and-humidity wording on the concept artwork is a development direction, not an accepted performance claim or final production label. Approve the formula, evidence and wording before using finished artwork.
Fine-mist spray: a different delivery brief
A spray concept suits a routine that benefits from distributing the product through a mist. Specify where the product is applied and the desired finish. The selected formula must work with the sprayer; a thicker lotion cannot simply be placed in an arbitrary fine-mist bottle.
A spray format does not automatically mean a lighter finished result. Formula composition, dose and application all matter. Ask for the complete sample-and-dispenser combination, rather than evaluating bulk formula separately from the retail pack.
Build a meaningful comparison
Start with the styling customer
State the target hair profile, usual styling method and concern: a heavy finish, difficult distribution or a need for a simpler leave-in routine. Specify whether the proposed product is used before styling, after styling or for refresh. Avoid combining unrelated occasions under an unlimited “all-in-one” promise.
Set the desired feel
Describe spread, slip, dry finish and fragrance preferences in practical terms. Choose a sensory direction the sales team can demonstrate. Ask for one lotion sample and one spray sample only when both are genuine alternatives for the same buyer need.
Separate cosmetic feel from protective claims
Easy combing or a pleasant finish does not by itself establish heat protection. Any temperature, duration or humidity claim needs a defined method and supporting results for the finished product. Do not import a competitor’s temperature figure into the OEM brief as an already approved result.
Quote the formula and pack together
Send JunChun the target market, styling routine, desired texture, proposed 200 ml or alternative fill, dispenser and quantity. The proposal should identify the formula version, component, label or decoration and claim documentation available.
Selected mature formulas in compatible stock packs may qualify from 100 pieces per SKU. Packaging-change projects are reviewed from 500 pieces, while specific parts, decoration or custom development can require more. Confirm the chosen route before artwork approval; a concept image is not confirmation of component inventory, price or lead time.
A focused leave-in can stand beside the brand’s shampoo and conditioner without duplicating a separate curl refresh SKU. Give each product a distinct place in the routine so distributors can explain why the customer needs it.
Frequently asked questions
Is the cover bottle a fine-mist spray?
No. It is a 200 ml lotion-pump concept. A spray requires a different compatible dispenser and formula.
Does a pump lotion always feel heavier?
No. The finished formula and applied dose determine the experience. Compare the approved samples.
Can we claim protection at a specific temperature?
Only with suitable evidence and approved wording for the finished product. The pack and reference label are not proof.
How do we request the right sample?
Describe the target hair, styling method, desired feel, application routine, pack and market. Ask for the formula and dispenser together.
